When you need a cup of joe, nothing else will do: and sometimes you just don’t want one of those donut or coffee chain places. You want to visit coffee shops where you can taste the passion for a great brew. If today is one of those days, hop in your Jeep Grand Cherokee and head to one of these great spots in Holdrege, NE.
4th Ave Coffee
Located at 612 4th Ave, this place opens bright and early at 6:30AM every day but Sunday. They close at 3PM. This is a really comfortable stop if you want to hang out for a while, and the staff knows what they’re doing in preparing the perfect coffee drinks. You can’t ask for better in terms of service.
The lattes here are all really good, and if you are staying, be sure to try their lemon bars. All the espresso drinks are very consistent: you’ll always enjoy your drink here. They also offer boba tea and iced coffee drinks of various kinds, and they will be happy to try and make whatever you want.
Scooter’s Coffee
This place is located at 103 4th Ave, and it opens at 5:30AM Monday through Friday and at 6AM on Saturday and 7AM on Sunday. This is a chain, but it’s a good local one that’s a refreshing break from the national big boys. Customer service here is outstanding, and they have a speedy drive-thru so you can get your fix whenever you need it.
If you’re visiting here, be sure to try their seasonal favorites, like the amazing honey vanilla latte or the kiwi-lime prickly pear quencher. They also have all your regular espresso favorites (try their white mocha), and the food is good. We recommend their maple waffle sandwich if you’re in a hurry in the morning, and the everything bagel sandwich will keep you full for a good long while.
Barista’s Daily Grind
If you’re up for a short drive and want a really great cuppa, this place at 2301 13th Ave in Kearney is a great option. They open at 6:30AM and close at noon daily, except for Sunday, when they are closed. They have a real passion for their coffee here, and it shows.
We always recommend trying their weekly specials. They have a huge variety of distinctive drinks, and you’re very likely to find a new favorite. We love the black cherry hot cocoa and the Jamochaccino in particular.
Kitt’s Kitchen and Coffee
If you’re in Kearney, check out this place at 2001 A Avenue for a good cup of coffee and a nice pastry. They open at 6AM every day but Sunday, when they open at 7AM. The spot is cozy, relaxed, and offers consistent quality.
The coffee here is rich and flavorful, and they roast their beans in-house, so it always smells fantastic here. There are plenty of tea choices to order, as well, and the crepes here are particularly good.
Whichever of these places you choose, you’re going to enjoy your drink. When you’re done, visit us at Janssen Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram of Holdrege for service on that Jeep Grand Cherokee!
