2021 Ram 1500
Ram's 1500 pickup truck is versatile and comfortable and offers upscale features and equipment in the higher trims. The 2021 model year brings the debut of the TRX model, and the rest of the lineup received some updates as well. These include a digital rearview camera, a new head-up display, and an upgraded infotainment system with Off-Road Pages. The Advanced Safety Package gains pedestrian detection and expands forward-collision warning to more trim levels.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The entry-level Tradesman trim comes with 18-inch steel wheels, automatic headlights, and rear privacy glass. Take a step up to the Big Horn for 18-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, and the option for heated side mirrors. If you need more off-road capabilities, the Rebel adds upgraded shocks, an electronic locking rear axle, skid plates, and all-terrain tires. Choose the Laramie for the power-adjustable mirrors, or go to the Longhorn for side steps, a spray-in bed liner, and lighting in the bed. A new Laramie Longhorn has 20-inch wheels and upgraded headlights, and the Limited comes standard with Ram's four-corner air suspension. The top-level TRX has a 2-inch lift, upgraded brakes, and 35-inch all-terrain tires.
Engine (Power)
The Ram 1500's engine lineup starts with a 3.6-liter V-6 that makes 305 horsepower. A 5.7-liter V-8 comes with the Limited and bumps up to 395 horsepower, or you can get the 3.0-liter turbodiesel that generates 260 horsepower. The new TRX gets its power from a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 with 702 horsepower.
Performance
This Ram truck provides an impressively plush and smooth ride on the road. Every 1500 trim is available with four-wheel drive, and if you have the Rebel or TRX, you'll get extra features to make it capable of tackling rough terrain. When equipped with the tow package, towing capabilities range from 4,350 pounds to 12,750 pounds.
Interior
The 1500 has room for up to six passengers depending on the cab size. The Tradesman comes with vinyl upholstery, with cloth and leather available in the higher trims. A power-adjustable driver's seat comes in the Big Horn, along with a leather-wrapped steering wheel and power-adjustable pedals. The Laramie has leather upholstery and driver's seat memory settings, and the Limited adds premium front bucket seats.
Tech features start with a 5-inch touch screen in the Tradesman, with an 8.4-inch touch screen in the Big Horn or an optional 12-inch touch screen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come in the Big Horn and above, and if you bump up to the Limited, it has wireless charging and comes standard with the 12-inch screen. The 1500 makes it easy to back up a trailer with its optional electronic trailer reverse steering control. It uses a knob instead of the steering wheel to simplify steering movements.
Safety Features
Every Ram 1500 comes with a rearview camera. The Laramie and above come with forward collision warning with mitigation, and the Limited adds a blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert. Ram offers the Advanced Safety Group for most trims, featuring adaptive cruise control, a surround-view camera that provides a 360-degree view around the entire truck, and lane-keep assist.
